WHO WE ARE

Battery to Bridges Coalition is a community-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on waterfront stewardship, climate resilience, and public access along Lower Manhattan's East River waterfront—from Montgomery Street to the Battery Maritime Building.

As major investments reshape the waterfront, we advocate for solutions that do more than protect against future climate risks. We support green-space-centered designs that strengthen resilience, improve public access, enhance neighborhood quality of life, and create lasting public benefits for surrounding communities.

Working alongside residents, stakeholders, and partner organizations, Battery to Bridges helps elevate community voices in waterfront planning, supports the continued evolution of resilience efforts, and promotes a future waterfront that is accessible, welcoming, and sustainable for generations to come.

OUR VISION

Ecology & Environmental Stewardship

Support habitat restoration, environmental education, and long-term stewardship of the East River estuary while strengthening connections between people and the natural environment.

Climate Resilience & Community Benefit

Advocate for solutions that protect neighborhoods from future climate risks while creating lasting public benefits through accessible, vibrant, and community-focused waterfront spaces.

Public Access & Recreation

Create welcoming public spaces that encourage walking, gathering, recreation, learning, and everyday enjoyment of the waterfront while expanding access to open space for surrounding communities.

EVENTS

As America marks its quarter-millennium, the waters and skies surrounding Lower Manhattan next week will be the epicenter of naval and aeronautic spectacles that may not be equaled until the nation’s 500th birthday.

Tours are free, but making reservations in advance is strongly recommended. General information on Sail4th 250 can be found here and on ship tours here.
